Breeding Reports

πŸ“ Find this in the app: Admin Panel β†’ Stables β†’ Finance, then Breeding (/admin/stables/finance/breeding)

What each crop of foals really cost, lost pregnancies included, and which of your mares pay off. Breeding reports are part of Horse Costs (PRO) and are built from the pregnancy costs you log on your mares and the costs of their foals. Only administrators see them.

The figures appear once the insemination of one of your own mares is recorded. Lines still waiting for an invoice are included, and the page says how much of the total they are.

The headline figures

  • Cost per foal β€” what each live foal cost, across your completed seasons.
  • Cost per sold horse β€” what each sale has had to earn back. Unsold foals still count in the cost.
  • Foals born and pregnancies lost.

Seasons with mares still in foal are left out of these figures until all their foals are born.

By season

One row per season β€” the year the mares were covered; the foals arrive the year after β€” with covers, foals, lost pregnancies, foals sold, the total cost, cost per foal, cost per sold horse, sale proceeds and the result.

How they are counted:

  • Total cost = every pregnancy cost (lost pregnancies too) + the mare's keep while she was in foal + the foals' own costs since birth. Nothing is counted twice.
  • Cost per foal = total cost Γ· live foals born. Twins count as two foals. A lost pregnancy adds to the cost, not to the count.
  • Cost per sold horse = total cost Γ· foals sold so far.
  • Sale proceeds = sale price βˆ’ commission βˆ’ sale costs, from the details you enter when you mark a foal as sold.
  • Result = sale proceeds βˆ’ total cost so far.

A season marked Incomplete is missing something, for example a mare without a keep rate or a foal without cost records, so the real figure is higher.

Mares

One entry per stable-owned mare with a recorded cover: covers, foals, lost pregnancies, foals sold, her pregnancy costs, her keep since her first cover (barren months too), her cost per foal and the sale proceeds of her foals. By sire splits her results per stallion; per sire, her keep counts only while she was in foal.

Mares you have sold or removed stay in the report, so past seasons keep adding up. A mare that has become a boarder's horse is left out.
